Sampson
Sampson is a 9 ˝ year old English Mastiff and his body has benefited greatly from massage. He is a giant breed and at his top weight he was 186lbs. Now that he is in his senior years he has lost some weight but carrying all that heft through the years has done some harm to his bones. He has some limited mobility in his knees and massage has started to loosen him up again. He moves a bit quicker and is not as stiff. He also doesn’t snore as much when he sleeps allowing him to breathe better. The massages’ he receives is helping to promote a healthy overall well being and is allowing him to age gracefully rather than stiff and sore. Cooper is Sampson’s “brother” he is a five year old golden retriever. Cooper is very active and loves to play frisbee sometimes to the point of exhaustion. Massage is helping him to learn to relax and release some of the tension from a hard day of playing. It also promotes a healthy aging process as he moves into mid-life. We are hoping that this application will be beneficial to him in his older years and he will not have as many hip or joint issues as so many large dogs do.
Spencer Spencer is a 13 year old Springer who sometimes has trouble getting up off the floor or going up stairs. We worked with Spencer over several sessions where we were able to see a significant increase in the range of motion in his left hip. Now, he less often favors one leg over the other when standing and walking. He is also a lot more comfortable distributing his weight evenly. Spencer likes to take a victory lap around the kitchen table after his massage session before heading to the floor for a well deserved nap.
Buddy
and Muffy Buddy is a pit bull / lab mix who is 14 years young. He has some muscle atrophy in his back legs, stiffness in his stifles (knees) and a couple of other medical issues that limit his activities. He needs a push every now and then to get up the stairs or off his favorite pillow. Since starting massage with Buddy we have seen less coughing, less snoring, quicker and easier movement and a very apparent increase in enthusiasm. He looks forward to the start of his session and shows his appreciation by bringing his favorite toy! While Buddy stretches out and takes a break, Muffy sneaks in for her massage! Abbott
Abbott is a 15 year old Golden Retriever who benefits significantly from massage. He has some muscle atrophy in his hind end which restricts his activity level and even standing for long periods of time. Abbott was one of the practice dogs during my small animal massage training and quickly became the favorite. On Day 1, he was stiff and reluctant to play ball; he also needed assistance getting into the car. By Day 3 he was running after tennis balls and practically leapt into the car before anyone could even try to help him.
Supai
Supai is 5 years old and enjoys a massage after agility. He tends to hold a lot of tension in his chest and really enjoys a slow deep massage around that area and the front part of his body including his neck and head. He also gets a good stretch the night after a vigorous agility session.
The newest addition to the pack.. Gingee!! She is a 16 week old Border Collie who loves to be touched and massaged. She is smart as a whip and already knows her alphabet :)
George
George lost his battle to cancer on October 15th. We will miss him terribly but his spirit lives on in everything we do to help animals. He was a beautiful cat and always had a kind purr to say. George is 14 years old and still misses Kimba, his friend, who past away a couple of years ago at the age of 18. Kimba protected George from the big brown dog and other scary things. Massage helps George feel less vulnerable and has helped build confidence. He walks right by the big brown dogs to get his massage every night.
Charlie and
Lilypad Charlie and Lilypad, believe it or not, are siblings. They were foster cats that became forever cats (how often does that happen?). Since they both are very busy chasing each other and other objects around the house, they prefer the quick vigorous "massage and go".
